Golf
Carlos Rodriguez is stepping down as coach of the Belen Jesuit boys’ golf team, effective at the end of this season.
Rodriguez did a tremendous job leading the Wolverines, which saw one of its own (his son alum Lorenzo) compete in a PGA tour event in 2026, the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Belen’s golf program attracted more than 100 players a season the past five years — potentially making it the largest high school golf program in Florida, if not the country. This year, more than 115 young men registered to be part of Belen golf.
During this eight-year journey, Rodriguez created a college-level type travel schedule that included 5-6 trips a season to play in 18 and 36 hole tournaments. Belen golfers won multiple individual and team district championships, an individual regional championship and an individual state championship.
Belen qualified as either an individual or as a team for the FHSAA State Championships in those eight seasons, including seven consecutive as a team. The Wolverines also represented the school on the national stage at the National High School Golf Championship in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
