Fans Want CJ Bailey Cut From NC State Football Team After Game-Losing Play

NC State was on its way to an upset win over Vanderbilt this Saturday, but CJ Bailey – literally and figuratively – fumbled the game away.

With six seconds remaining in regulation and NC State leading 31-28, Bailey took the snap in his own end zone and tried to run out the clock. The Wolfpack were willing to surrender the safety since they had a three-point cushion. What they couldn’t afford was a turnover as the clock expired.

Well, that’s exactly what happened. As Bailey was trying to brace for contact, he lost the football in his own end zone. The ball was recovered by Vanderbilt for a game-winning touchdown.

NC State went from having a 31-28 win over Vanderbilt in the bag to losing 35-31. As you’d imagine, fans expressed their displeasure with Bailey on social media.

“I’m not even joking CJ Bailey should be investigated,” one fan commented.

“CJ Bailey is just not a good quarterback bro,” a second fan wrote. “Every other throw is a tuna sub. Zero football IQ. Just unbelievable.”

“Props CJ Bailey, this might be the worst way I’ve ever seen a single player lose a game my godddd,” another fan wrote.

“CJ Bailey should NEVER play another game in a State uniform. No coming back from this,” an NC State fan said.

“I’d cut CJ Bailey and fire the entire coaching staff while they’re walking off the field. Unacceptable,” another NC State fan declared.

Devastating loss for NC State.

According to ESPN Insights, NC State had a win probability of 99.9% before Bailey fumbled the football.

“Entering Saturday, teams were 1,046-1 over the last 20 seasons when leading with the ball in the final 10 seconds of regulation,” ESPN Insights added.

Even though Bailey had 275 passing yards and three touchdowns against Vanderbilt, all of his positive plays were erased by his game-losing mistake.
