Authorities received a report around 7:12 p.m. of a shooting near the 5100 block of East Lakes Drive in Deerfield Beach, the BSO said in a Monday statement.
Deputies responded and found 25-year-old Ryan McGowan suffering from gunshot wounds, BSO said. McGowan, of Deerfield Beach, was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died shortly after.
Mauro Lopez, 27, stayed on scene and was detained, BSO said. The shooting stemmed from an earlier argument between Lopez and McGowan at a different location, according to the preliminary investigation.

He was being held Monday pending a bond hearing at the Broward Main Jail, records show. Lopez didn’t have an attorney listed yet.
