Buffalo Bills Announce Josh Allen News on Thursday Night

Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills opened Week 2 of the new NFL season with a big win. After defeating the Houston Texans in their season opener, 36-31, the Bills scored their second win of the campaign against the Detroit Lions on Thursday night, 41-31.

Allen turned in a strong performance in the team’s first regular-season game at the new Highmark Stadium. The four-time Pro Bowl quarterback completed 20-of-31 passes for 248 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions. Allen also had 14 carries for 69 rushing yards and two TDs.

It was a historic evening for the 2024 AP Most Valuable Player. Allen scored his fifth touchdown of the game late in the third quarter. He rushed right for a one-yard score, putting Buffalo up 34-17.

The Bills took to social media to announce their star quarterback’s latest career milestone.

“Josh Allen notches his second rushing TD of the night and moves his career total to 83 rushing TDs,” Buffalo Bills PR posted on X.

“He’s now tied with Jim Taylor for 18th place on the NFL’s all-time list.”

It was also the fourth time in Allen’s career that he reached a historic statistical benchmark.

“Tonight is Allen’s fourth career game with 3+ passing & 2+ rushing TDs in a game,” Buffalo Bills PR wrote.

“Kordell Stewart (2) is the only other player to ever tally multiple such games in NFL history.”

Allen will want to keep his foot on the gas in their next game. The Bills play at home again in Week 3. They will host the Los Angeles Chargers at Highmark Stadium on Sept. 27, with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 p.m. ET.

Allen will face another top-tier QB in Justin Herbert, giving the Bills superstar another chance to prove why he’s the early frontrunner for this season’s MVP title.
