After the epic $1.04 billion win Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026, with a winner from the Land of Lincoln, the Powerball reset to $20 million on Aug. 15. With 16 rollovers since, including the Powerball drawing from Saturday, Sept. 19, the jackpot has climbed from $298 million to nearly $313 million for Monday, Sept. 21. The Powerball jackpot has a cash option, too, increasing from $127.2 million to $133.6 million. We’ll see if there’s a winner or another rollover.

In case you’re wondering, Saturday’s winning numbers were 18-30-41-45-68 and the Powerball was 10. Power Play was 2x. Though it resulted in a rollover, it wasn’t all bad news: One ticket in New York matched five numbers to win $1 million.

Who won $1.04 billion Powerball in Illinois?

According to a Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026, release by the Illinois Lottery, the winner in the $1.04 billion Powerball drawing from Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026, elected to remain anonymous (it varies by state) but did provide a statement: “I initially didn’t believe I had won, so I called a family member to confirm it,” the winner said. “Even after claiming the prize, I’m still processing the news and experiencing the full range of emotions that come with winning a billion-dollar jackpot – from disbelief and shock to overwhelming elation.

“I chose a Quick Pick and spent just $2 on a single line of Powerball numbers,” the winner added. “I never could have imagined that a $2 purchase would lead to a $1.04 billion jackpot. This is truly a blessing, and I’m incredibly grateful for this unexpected and extraordinary opportunity.”

The Illinois Lottery reported the winner chose a one-time lump-sum payment, $450.5 million.

Hy-Vee Fast and Fresh, 310 N. 36th St., Quincy, Illinois, sold the winning $1 billion ticket for the Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026, Powerball drawing. Final ticket sales pushed the grand total to $1.04 billion. Hy-Vee Fast and Fresh received a $500,000 bonus commission.

In addition to the grand prize, there were several other second-tier winning tickets in the Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026, big Powerball drawing. A Florida ticket was one of four, joining those bought in Arizona, California and North Carolina, that matched 5 for $1 million prizes. A bigger win went to a Massachusetts ticket which matched 5 plus the Power Play for a $2 million prize.

The $1 million Florida winner bought their ticket from Racetrac, 2335 Cleveland Ave., Fort Myers, Florida. The ticketholder claimed the cash option for their quick pick ticket days later, Florida Lottery records show, and lives in Cape Coral, Florida.

Powerball drawings are held at 11 p.m. ET Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, including holidays. According to Powerball.com, players have a 1 in 292.2 million chance to match all six numbers whether the jackpot is $20 million or $2 billion. Prizes range from $2 to the grand prize jackpot, which varies.

The next Powerball drawing will be on Wednesday, Sept. 23.
