ESPN Urged To Change ‘Embarrassing’ College Football Announcers Lineup

Does ESPN need to change its college football announcers lineup?

Week 3 of the 2026 college football season is in the books. ESPN’s No. 1 team of Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit, Holly Rowe and Laura Rutledge were on hand for the Ole Miss vs. LSU game in Oxford, Mississippi on Saturday night. It was a fun one, with Ole Miss taking down LSU in a rivalry game.

But while Fowler and Herbstreit will surely remain as ESPN’s No. 1 announcing lineup – like it or not – fans are calling for the Worldwide Leader in Sports to change their secondary lineups moving forward.

College football fans are calling for ESPN to promote college football analyst Cole Cubelic, who is way down on the lineup this season.

Cubelic was on the call of the Tennessee vs. Kennesaw State game on Saturday.

ESPN college football analyst Josh Pate called out his own network.

“Cole Cubelic combines ball knowledge + big game aura + SEC adjacency better than anyone (a super-majority of viewers would agree) Having him call games with 5TD spreads every week continues to be an inexplicable whiff,” he wrote.

“Called Kent State vs Tennessee yesterday. What are we doing?”

College football fans agree with the idea

“He’s the best man,” one fan wrote.

“Bama fan here and he is ELITE. Would have loved to have him on the call for the Bama game yesterday. Knows the box better than anyone in the game and explains better than anyone else,” one fan added.

“I listen to him and McElroy in the mornings & the difference is rather stark. I’m a bama guy, but I tune in to listen to Cubelic. His knowledge & analysis is fantastic.

Greg just talks on and off the air. Often times, in direct contradiction to what is playing out on screen,” one fan added.

Does ESPN need to consider a change?
