Nate Burleson Sparks Debate Wearing Shorts On CBS NFL Sunday

Temperatures across the country are unbearable and people are doing whatever they can to beat the heat. But CBS NFL analyst Nate Burleson might have gone a little too far with his heat-fighting outfit on Sunday.

During today’s edition of The NFL Today on CBS, Burleson wore a pair of shorts that matched his suit-jacket. He was the only one of the five cast members who didn’t wear long pants.

When asked about it, Burleson happily declared that he’s just trying to get some cool air on his legs before it gets too cold out.

“It’s some of the last days of summer. I wanted to have my legs out before it gets cold out here in New York. You see those calves? You see those calves?! Come on, those are 45-year-old calves,” he declared.

“Unprofessional?”

Burleson might have found it fun to wear shorts with a suit, but other sports fans quickly took to social media to accuse him of “unprofessional” attire.

“Old enough to remember when they actually produced NFL pregame shows for grownups,” one user remarked.

“Just trying to be different for the sake of being different. Cringe,” wrote another.

“Not a good look at all. Unprofessional. Hopefully Gale will set him straight tomorrow morning on their show,” a third wrote.

“Pre-game shows would really benefit from returning to a less personality driven approach and a more professional style.”

“A producer or someone else needs to step up and veto that nonsense. That’s a bad, bad look.”

“I wish people still knew how to dress in this day and age.”

Unfortunately for fans hoping to make Burleson act differently, he’s way too big of a figure at CBS to lose his job outright over something so small. If anything, he probably got permission from the higher-ups first.
