Traffic Alert: Both directions closing on the Dolphin Expressway
All eastbound lanes on the Dolphin Expressway in Miami-Dade County will close at Northwest 17th Avenue and westbound lanes as needed between Northwest 12th and 17th avenues.

The lanes will close on Friday, Aug. 28, from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m., and again from Sunday, Aug. 30 to Thursday, Sept. 3, from 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
“The start and end times will be adjusted on special event days,” the Florida Department of Transportation project website says, although it does not specify how the route to and from Nu Stadium will be affected on Saturday, Aug. 29, when Inter Miami plays Montréal at 7:30 p.m.
LoanDepot Park, where the Miami Marlins play, doesn’t have any events until Sept. 4, after the lanes are expected to reopen.

For a detour, drivers traveling west should exit at the Northwest 12th Avenue ramp and turn left, then turn right on Northwest Seventh Street. Drivers can then turn right on Northwest 17th Avenue and continue north to connect with the westbound Dolphin Expressway ramp.
Drivers headed east, can exit at Northwest 17th Avenue, continue south across Northwest Seventh Street and turn left at Southwest First Street to continue. Then, turn right at South Miami Avenue and turn right again to access the ramp to northbound or southbound Interstate 95.
Drivers going to Biscayne Boulevard or the MacArthur Causeway should continue east on Southwest First Street, and turn left on Biscayne Boulevard to meet the causeway entrance ramp at Northeast 11th Terrace.

Here are other road issues in South Florida:
Miami-Dade County
- Northwest 17th Street will fully close under I-95 on Friday, Aug. 28, and again from Sunday, Aug. 30 through Thursday, Sept. 3, from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. This is for work on a new bridge over the roadway. Drivers can use Northwest 20th Street as an alternative route.
- All northbound and southbound lanes on Biscayne Boulevard from Northeast 14th Street to Northeast 11th Terrace will close on Friday, Aug. 28, and again from Sunday, Aug. 30 through Thursday, Sept. 3, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. All southbound lanes on Northeast 13th Street from North Bayshore Drive to Northeast Second Avenue, and all southbound lanes on North Bayshore Drive from Northeast 14th to 13th streets will also close at this time. The closures are for drainage and roadway work, and the Florida Department of Transportation project website says daytime closures “will also be necessary at times.” The department website also says “the start and end times will be adjusted on special event days.”
- Northwest 14th Street from Northwest Third Avenue to Northwest First Place will fully close on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Those driving east on Northwest 14th Street can turn right on Third Avenue, then turn left on 13th Street before turning left again on First Place to connect with Northwest 14th Street. Those driving west can turn right on Northwest First Place, then turn left on 16th Street before turning left again on Second Avenue to continue onto Northwest 16th Street. Drivers can then turn left on Northwest Third Avenue to connect with 14th Street.
- Up to two lanes on northbound and southbound I-95 from Northwest 29th to 8th streets will close on Friday, Aug. 28, from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m., and again from Sunday, Aug. 30, through Thursday, Sept. 3, between 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
- On Friday, Aug. 28 and again from Sunday, Aug. 30 through Thursday, Sept. 3, one lane on westbound and eastbound I-395 will close from I-95 to Biscayne Boulevard between 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
Broward County
- One lane on Southwest 12th Avenue and North 22nd Avenue will close between Stirling Road and Sheridan Street in Dania Beach on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. These closures are expected to continue until spring of next year.
- Lanes on Atlantic Boulevard at the Lyons Road intersection in Coconut Creek will close Sundays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and as needed at night from 6:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. On Fridays and Saturdays, lanes will close from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and lanes may also close on Lyons Road as needed, Sundays through Thursdays from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.
- Lanes on Broward Boulevard from Northwest 33rd Avenue to Southwest 29th Avenue near Fort Lauderdale will close as needed from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and at night from 7:30 p.m. to 8 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays. The roadwork is expected to be completed in the spring of next year.
- Up to two lanes in each direction on University Drive from Pembroke Road to north of Johnson Street in Miramar may close from Sunday night through Friday morning between 7:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. This work will add bicycle lanes and paths, improve drainage, upgrade traffic signals, sidewalk curbs and signs and resurface existing roadway. It is expected to continue until early 2030.
