Traffic alert: New highway pattern coming to stretch of I-95 in Miami

Beginning 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, southbound Interstate 95 drivers exiting at Northwest 14th Street will follow a new traffic pattern. Exits will shift slightly east and drivers will move right onto a newly constructed ramp lane.

Also, expect overnight lane closings to affect Okeechobee Road from the Broward County line to west of the Homestead Extension of Florida’s Turnpike.

While crews are adding landscaping, installing native plants, and making medians, curves and roadside areas more visible, lanes will close from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. weekdays and weekends.

Here are other road issues to note on South Florida roadways:

Miami-Dade County

• A new northbound exit ramp to eastbound Okeechobee Road (Exit 35A) was completed on Aug. 19. Drivers heading to westbound Okeechobee Road should still use the existing Exit 34B. Access to Northwest 138th Street is only available from Exit 34B as well.
• Up to one southbound or northbound lane on Biscayne Boulevard will close from Northeast 61st to 64th streets between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and at night between 11:30 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. Closures will also occur from Northeast 64th Street to Sixth Avenue between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., and at night between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m.
• 135th Street lanes will close from Northwest Second Avenue to Northeast 17th Avenue/Tressler Street. In the eastbound direction, lanes will close between 10:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. and again from 4:15 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. to not interfere with school zone speed reductions. In the westbound direction, lanes will close from 5 a.m. to 6:45 a.m. and again at 9:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. This project is estimated to complete in the spring of 2028.
• On Northwest 27th Avenue from Sesame Street to Dunad Avenue in Opa-locka, a lane will close on weekdays and weekends from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. From 8:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., there is possible double-lane closures. This project is expected to be completed this fall.
• Lanes will close from 9:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. and again from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. on weekdays and weekends along Northwest 135th Street from 30th to 47th avenues.

Broward County

• Single lane closures will occur along 22nd Avenue between Stirling Road and Sheridan Street in Hollywood from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays.
• Along Atlantic Boulevard at Lyons Road in Coconut Creek, lane closures will occur Sundays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and nightly at 6:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. Friday and Saturday lane closures will occur from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and lanes may also close on Lyons Road on Sundays through Thursdays from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.
• Lane closures will occur on Broward Boulevard between Northwest 33rd Terrace and 29th Avenue in Lauderhill from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and at night from 7:30 p.m. to 8 a.m. on Sundays through Thursdays.
