Jealousy sparked fatal shooting in Northwest Miami-Dade, deputies say

A man pulled a gun out of his fanny pack and shot another man to death in an apparent act of jealousy, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.

On Monday, at around 5:35 p.m., William Serrano Domenech, 49 was in the area of 3316 NW 38th Street “where he was socializing with the witness,” according to his arrest affidavit.

Deputies say Raul Aballe, 42, showed up and he and Serrano Domenech began to argue. It got physical when Serrano Domenech started slapping and punching Aballe.

Then, Serrano Domenech pulled out a gun from a fanny pack and shot Aballe in the stomach deputies said. After firing the shot, Serrano Domenech fled eastbound on Northwest 38th Street.

Aballe was taken to Jackson Memorial Ryder Trauma Center, where he died.

“The investigation revealed that the defendant and victim were involved in an ongoing dispute stemming from the defendants jealousy over the victims relationship with the witness,” detectives wrote in Serrano Domenech’s arrest affidavit.

The witness told investigators that Aballe was not armed and did not initiate the physical fight.

It took deputies a day to round up Serrano Domenech.

On Tuesday, at around 5:15 p.m., deputies from the MDSO Northside District were patrolling near Northwest 32nd Street and 31st Avenue when they saw Serrano Domenech, who matched the description of a person of interest in the homicide that occurred the previous day.

When deputies tried to speak with Serrano Domenech, he ducked into a neighbor’s yard apparently attempting to avoid the cop car Deputies detained him. While being detained, Serrano Domenech said, “I’m Willy, the guy you’re looking for from yesterday.”

While deputies were looking for Serrano Domenech’s identification, they saw a handgun inside a bag he was carrying.

Deputie say Serrano Domenech has prior federal felony convictions for cocaine sales and a weapons offense.

Serrano Domenech admitted to shooting Aballe, according to his arrest affidavit. However, his statement differed from the witness who described what happened.

He is charged with second degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He remains locked up at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as of Wednesday morning, with a bond status of “to be set.”
