Man arrested after ‘lengthy standoff’ at Fort Lauderdale Airbnb, police say

A man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly barricaded himself inside an Airbnb rental, resulting in a “lengthy standoff” with a SWAT team, according to the Fort Lauderdale Police Department.

Officers received a report from a woman, who was requesting help with a domestic violence incident, a police spokesperson said. It happened around 5:30 a.m. at 610 NE 16 Terrace in Fort Lauderdale.

When officers arrived, they tried to make contact with a man inside, police said. The man, who was later identified as 42-year-old Andrew Green, refused to exit the home. One of Green’s children was also inside.

Since police “were not getting compliance,” a SWAT team and negotiators were called to the residence, police said.

“After a lengthy standoff, Green’s child exited the residence unharmed,” police said. “Green still refused to exit.”

The SWAT team deployed an aerosol irritant, a kind of pepper spray, into the dwelling, which forced Green outside, police said. He was then arrested.

Green is facing charges of false Imprisonment, domestic battery by strangulation and domestic battery, police said. He was not listed in Broward court or jail records as of Sunday afternoon.
