About 15 minutes before the police found the victims, a man flagged down a Lauderhill officer to report that someone armed with a knife tried to attack him, according to police.
That officer saw a man matching the description of the attacker, but when he noticed the cop, he ran away into a neighborhood near the 1700 block of Northwest 55th Avenue, police said.
The officer and his colleagues set up a perimeter and searched the neighborhood.
Minutes later, police received a 911 call that there was a man lying on the ground on Northwest 19th Street with stab wounds, said Lt. Antonio Gonzalez. After finding that man, police found a second victim nearby, Gonzalez said.
The first man was dead when police got to him, but paramedics took the second man to a hospital, where he died, Gonzalez said. Police have not named the hospital.

After an extensive search that included Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies and Sunrise police, officers found the killing suspect, who “was taken into custody without further incident,” Gonzalez said in a statement.
Police have not released the names of the victims or suspect.
Police said the investigation continues and detectives have not determined a motive.
Investigators are asking anyone with information to call the Lauderhill Police Department at 954-497-4700 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
