Aventura police officers responded around 4:30 a.m. to a single-vehicle incident on the 3000 block of the William Lehman Causeway, Rivas said.

The vehicle was headed east on the causeway “when, for reasons still under investigation,” it left the road and came to a stop near the gas pumps, he said.

A man, who was driving the car and was not identified by police, died at the scene.
