Around 11 a.m., 17 Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews were called to the crash near Northwest 36th Street and 87th Avenue, fire officials said.

Details of what caused the crash have not been released, but a red pick-up truck was seen on top of a sedan, which had a different red pick-up slammed into the back of it.

Of the six people, two were hurt critically. One was airlifted to a hospital while the other was driven by ambulance. Fire crews treated four others at the scene, but they did not have to be taken to the hospital.

Firefighters needed to use the jaws of life to rescue someone from one of the vehicles.

“It was not a difficult extraction, but we did have to stabilize the vehicles because of the way one ended up on top of the other in order to make sure the scene was safe for our personnel as well as the people inside the vehicles,” Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Rogelio Vandamas said.
