Traffic alert: Canes and Dolphins games could affect your drive this weekend

The University of Miami and the Miami Dolphins both play at home this weekend — and that means heavier traffic around Hard Rock Stadium and on I-95 and Florida’s Turnpike.

The Canes play Central Michigan at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, so expect roads to start getting busier two to three hours before game time.

Same goes for the Dolphins game against the Kansas City Chiefs, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday.

Expect heavier traffic along the Miami Gardens Drive and Ives Dairy Road corridors as well as on Northwest 27th Avenue/University Drive near the stadium. Also, Turnpike Exit 2X: northbound and southbound exit ramps at Northwest 199th Street could have restricted access on game days.

For the University of Miami game, parking lots will open at 1:30 p.m., and the stadium gates will open at 5 p.m.

Parking lots will open at 9 a.m. for the Dolphins game, and fans can begin entering the stadium at 11 a.m.

These are the only delays you’ll face in the coming week. Here’s a look at closings and detours in Miami-Dade and Broward counties.
