Related: Jonah Coleman Upside With Broncos Ignites Waiver Wire Stampede
Week 3 Fantasy Running Backs: Start ‘Em
- Quinshon Judkins, Browns vs. Panthers
- Tony Pollard, Titans at Giants
- Jonah Coleman, Broncos vs. Rams
- Tank Bigsby, Eagles at Bears (big bump if Saquon Barkley is inactive)
Carolina will be the most favorable on-paper defensive matchup for the Browns’ run game, and Judkins could use this opportunity to ramp things up after coming back from devastating lower-leg injuries.
Tennessee should lean on its top running back against a Giants team who likely must replace starting quarterback Jaxson Dart (knee) with the turnover-prone Jameis Winston. Pollard should log at least 20 touches to help Cam Ward in his best opportunity for a win.

To minimize Bo Nix’s need to test the Rams’ rebounding defense, Denver will look to control the ground game. Coleman filled in for the inactive RJ Harvey (hamstring) and found the end zone on the same day J.K. Dobbins (hamstring) left the game. If Harvey is once again inactive, those who picked up Coleman could be rewarded significantly. (Read the rest of the Week 3 waiver wire.)
Even if Saquon Barkley (stinger) plays, Bigsby should have a Flex-worthy complementary role; the talented backup found the end zone to go along with 38 yards from scrimmage in Week 2 emergency duty. The Bears’ defense will put up little resistance to Philly’s ground work.
Week 3 Fantasy Running Backs: Sit ‘Em
- Javonte Williams, Cowboys vs. Ravens (Brazil)
- Bucky Irving, Buccaneers vs. Vikings
Both are more Fades than Sits, but if you loaded up on running backs and have the personnel otherwise, they might be solid options to leave on benches.
Maybe the Cowboys lean more on the run because of the travel, but Williams doesn’t lineup well against this Ravens run defense, especially since the Cowboys’ offensive line doesn’t feel like blocking lately.
Irving may cede more work to Kenneth Gainwell to keep up with the Vikings, who will get Kyler Murray back from concussion protocol and could reach their peak upside, similar to how K1 was rolling under center before getting hurt.
