The Raiders have a large rookie class, but only a couple of players are getting to see the field on a regular basis.

The secondary is seeing plenty of action from rookies, but the offense has seen first-year players pulled back even more than in Week 1.

Here are the snap counts for every rookie in Week 2.

Starters

After using four draft picks on defensive backs, the Raiders had two rookies start in the secondary.

Treydan Stukes won a starting safety job out of training camp, as he displaced Isaiah Pola-Mao. Stukes had his first interception in Week 1, but he only played 31 snaps in Week 2 after leaving the game with a concussion.

Head coach Kubiak said Stukes was still in concussion protocol on Monday.

Cornerback Hezekiah Masses came up huge for the Raiders after he was pushed into action due to Darien Porter’s foot injury. Masses came away with two interceptions in his first career start.

Masses ultimately played 50 of 68 snaps, as he came off the field a few times for a fellow rookie.

Backups

Jermod McCoy didn’t play in Week 1, but he made his NFL debut on Sunday and played 18 defensive snaps. But McCoy didn’t have much to write home about. According to Pro Football Focus, he was targeted twice and gave up two catches for 33 yards. If Porter returns for Week 3, McCoy will have a difficult time seeing the field.

The Raiders decided to pull back on Mike Washington’s workload. The rookie running back only played 12 of 63 offensive snaps against the Chargers. He turned his three carries into seven yards.

It was a curious decision after Washington ran for 41 yards on seven carries in Week 1, while Ashton Jeanty struggled against the Los Angeles defense. The Raiders starter could only muster 48 yards on 21 carries.

Malik Benson has nearly disappeared from the Raiders’ offense. The rookie wide receiver played just eight snaps and has been surpassed by Dareke Young and Cody White in the pecking order.

Offensive lineman Trey Zuhn played two offensive snaps (and four on special teams). Zuhn was used in packages with more than five offensive linemen. He has the ability to play any position on the offensive line, but until an injury, he will likely only see the field in jumbo packages.

Everyone Else

As expected, Fernando Mendoza didn’t play on Sunday. It will take an injury to Kirk Cousins or a blowout on the scoreboard to get Mendoza into action any time soon. At some point he will take over the offense, but that time is not here yet.
