We don\u2019t do the inspections. We don\u2019t choose who gets inspected. If you have a complaint about a restaurant, do not email us. Reach out to the DBPR via its complaint form.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Restaurants are closed until they pass a re-inspection. That re-inspection, also called a \u201ccallback inspection,\u201d usually occurs the next day. Unless noted below, the restaurants have passed re-inspection and are back open.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>In alphabetical order:<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<h2>Cuban Guys Sandwiches &amp; More, 14685 S. Dixie Hwy., Palmetto Bay<\/h2>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p><b>Complaint inspection, two total violations, one high priority violation<\/b><\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>This restaurant was shut down almost purely on the volume of flies. And a paint brush.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Over 15 flies buzzed the handwash sink and were \u201clanding on takeout bags and containers behind the register at the front counter.\u201d More than 10 were flying around a floor drain at the front counter entrance and landing on a clean cutting board. Two played on the napkin dispenser at the soda station. More than five were around the drain under the three-compartment sink and \u201clanding on a cutting board where raw chicken was being prepared.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cObserved a non-food grade paint brush in use at the coffee station.\u201d The inspection didn\u2019t specify whether it was an artist brush or a house painting brush.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<h2>La Parrilla Liberty, 1255 Washington Ave., Miami Beach<\/h2>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p><b>Routine inspection, nine total violations, two high priority violations<\/b><\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>The walk-in cooler\u2019s shelves were \u201csoiled with a mold-like substance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Seven roaches were \u201ccrawling on the wall by the three-compartment sink and behind an exit sign in kitchen area.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>The prep area can opener\u2019s blade was \u201csoiled with food debris.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Tip for restaurants and those who cook at home: When you buy reduced oxygen packaged fish, and then let it thaw before taking it out, it starts to become a bacteria breeding ground. That\u2019s why when inspectors see, say, salmon in that packaging thawing in the walk-in cooler, it gets hit with a Stop Sale.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<h2>Nick Caribbean Restaurant, 14530 W. Dixie Hwy., North Miami-Dade<\/h2>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p><b>Routine inspection, 27 total violations, six High Priority<\/b><\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Ah, that old standby, the most common violation: \u201cAccumulation of black\/green mold-like substance in the interior of the ice machine\/bin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/floridamovingchronicle.com\/?p=1976\">Fire that has burned 16,000 acres in West Miami-Dade more than halfway contained<\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>A live mouse was behind a storage cabinet in a hallway at the back of the kitchen.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Other living vermin spotted: about 80 roaches.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>More than 20 roaches hid behind \u201csigns posted on the walls throughout the kitchen.\u201d Another 20 were \u201cbehind shelves on top of the three-compartment sink.\u201d Ten roaches were behind wooden shelves in dry storage. Ten live roaches stayed inside a broken walk-in cooler. Another 10 roaches hung out around a kitchen area water heater. And another 10 were \u201con pipes and electrical outlets next to fryers on the cookline.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Somebody handled \u201csoiled equipment or utensils,\u201d then didn\u2019t wash their hands before returning to food prep or handling clean equipment or utensils.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe cutting board has cut marks and is no longer cleanable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>The inside of the microwave had \u201can accumulation of black substance\/grease\/food debris. *<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>The kitchen walls were \u201cheavily soiled.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>This inspection was Tuesday. There is no online record of Nick Caribbean passing re-inspection.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<h2>Sonic Drive In, 2699 NW 199th St., Miami Gardens<\/h2>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p><b>Complaint inspection, 31 total violations, five High Priority violations<\/b><\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>You know when you probably don\u2019t want the inspector to drop by and shut you down after finding \u201cobjectionable odors\u201d and 31 rodent droppings, including \u201cfour rat droppings?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Well, never \u2014 but especially not hours before more people than the population of Coral Gables swarms toward the stadium across the street for a World Cup game.
