Justin Jefferson Breaks Randy Moss Record on Sunday

Justin Jefferson and the Minnesota Vikings are coming off a strong 39-22 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Sept. 13 to open the 2026 NFL regular season. Green Bay quarterback Jordan Love threw for 387 passing yards, including two touchdown passes to wide receiver Christian Watson, who finished with 147 receiving yards.

For Minnesota, newly acquired quarterback Kyler Murray left the game early, with veteran quarterback Carson Wentz completing the game. Wentz and star receiver Jefferson connected well on the day, with Jefferson catching eight passes for 92 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The performance was necessary for Jefferson, as the four-time All-Pro receiver matched his entire touchdown production from the 2025 season in Week 1.

The career totals for the former No. 22 overall pick in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft are starting to mount. Entering Week 2’s game against the Chicago Bears, Jefferson has 587 receptions for 8,572 receiving yards and 44 receiving touchdowns in 95 career games. The 587 receptions have him tied with Hall of Fame receiver Randy Moss for the second-most in Vikings history. Hall of Fame receiver Cris Carter holds the top spot in franchise history with an astounding 1,004 receptions.

On Sunday, facing Ben Johnson and the Chicago Bears, with 14:03 remaining in the first quarter, quarterback Wentz completed a 30-yard pass to Jefferson for a first down. The completion gave Jefferson the 588th reception of his career, taking the record for second-most receptions in franchise history.
