Ravens’ Lamar Jackson Receives Unfortunate News Ahead of Saints Game

Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens took care of business in Week 1. Baltimore’s offensive attack was on full display as the Ravens scored 41 points.

Jackson completed 17 of 25 passes for one touchdown and 324 yards with no interceptions. He also rushed the ball seven times for 40 yards and another score.

Jackson’s top weapon was clearly wide receiver Zay Flowers, who caught five receptions on six targets for 150 yards and a receiving touchdown before halftime. However, Flowers would not appear during the entirety of the second half after suffering a hamstring injury in the second quarter.

Throughout the week Flowers missed the first two practices on Wednesday and Thursday before returning Friday as a limited participant. That limited designation briefly provided hope that he would be able to suit up for Baltimore’s Week 2 matchup with the New Orleans Saints.

Unfortunately that will not be the case. The Ravens announced Saturday that Flowers has been downgraded to out and will miss the game, a significant loss for Baltimore.

Although the Ravens still outmatch the Saints on paper, New Orleans has a tough defense and Jackson can use all the weapons he can get, especially his number one target.

WR Zay Flowers (hamstring) has been downgraded to “out” for tomorrow’s game against the New Orleans Saints.

The Ravens placed CB T.J. Tampa (knee) on Injured Reserve and signed LB Carl Jones from the practice squad to the 53-man roster.

Flowers has been Jackson’s best wideout over the past two seasons, totaling over 1,000 yards in each campaign and making the Pro Bowl both times.

Without him, Jackson will likely lean more heavily on Rashod Bateman and tight end Mark Andrews while also potentially turning to the ground game and Derrick Henry to shoulder a larger portion of the offensive load.

Hamstring injuries are tricky to manage and Baltimore will not rush Flowers back. He will look to make his return in Week 3.
