Alabama vs. Florida State Suspended Due To Weather

Alabama fans hoping to see their team avenge last year’s loss to Florida State will have to wait a while longer as the weather had other plans for today.

Mere minutes after the North Carolina-Clemson day in South Carolina was placed into a weather delay, lightning was detected in the area of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, which forced a lightning delay on the FSU-Alabama game.

It’s expected to be a pretty rough day even when the lightning does finally move away. Reporters have noted that it feels like over 100 degrees at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

“The weather continues to torment us! It’s been 100 degrees and sunny forever… until there is an Alabama football game. We’re in a lightning delay at Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium,” Gary L. Harris of WVUA wrote on X.

Fans get frustrated.

College football fans are not loving the policy of delaying a game when there’s lightning detected miles away from the venue in question. Some declared that the NCAA needs to adjust its policies in response to it:

“This Florida State-Alabama weather delay is the biggest (expletive) delay I’ve seen in a while. A lightning strike occurred 8 miles from the stadium 30 minutes ago and they’re now delaying the game, by the time kickoff actually occurs, by an hour and half. Total (expletive),” one user wrote on X.

“Only in Alabama do we have weather that is sunny, raining and can cause a lightning delay all at the same time,” wrote another.

“Another lightning delay!!!! All on the ESPN prime time games. Embarrassing product. Just absurdity. These people can do whatever they want. The entire stadium is full, Katie George is standing on thei field. What a JOKE!!! FSU at BAMA,” a third wrote.

Last year Alabama went into Tallahassee and suffered a stunning season-opening loss to the Seminoles. But that game wound up not being reflective of either team’s true ability at all as Florida State went on to finish just 5-7.

Meanwhile, Alabama rallied to finish 9-3 in the regular season, got into the College Football Playoff, beat Oklahoma and made it all the way to the Rose Bowl before getting annihilated by eventual national champion Indiana.

Kalen DeBoer and company will have revenge for last year’s embarrassment on their minds once the game finally kicks off.
