Details on Dolphins Saturday roster moves. And news on Willis, new cornerback

The Dolphins made a flurry of roster moves on Saturday, placing linebacker Ronnie Harrison on injured reserve, signing inside linebacker Liam Anderson and elevating two defensive ends from the practice squad.

With Chop Robinson out because of a concussion, the Dolphins elevated edge players Clelin Ferrell and Max Llewellyn from the practice squad. Both will be available for Sunday’s game at the 49ers (4:25 p.m., Fox).

It’s the second of a maximum three possible elevations for Ferrell, who played 11 defensive snaps in the season-opening 27-13 loss at the Raiders. Sunday will be his 100th career game.

Presuming Llewellyn plays, Sunday will be the NFL debut for the rookie seventh-round pick, who was released by the Dolphins in late August but re-signed to the practice squad. Llewellyn appeared in 43 career games with 13 starts in four years at Iowa, recording 64 tackles, 14.5 sacks, 20.5 tackles for loss, 10 passes defensed, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He was All-Big Ten honorable mention in 2025.

Ferrell, Llewellyn, Josh Uche, Robert Beal and Malik Herring will be the Dolphins’ edge players Sunday.

Harrison, who was previously ruled out for Sunday’s game with a hamstring injury, must sit out at least four games. Teams can bring back eight players off injured reserve in a season; Kenneth Grant and Trey Moore will be two of the four, and safety Kyle Louis and Harrison are now possibilities for two of the other designated-to-return slots.

Harrison, who has made 52 NFL starts, has been injured much of the time since signing with the Dolphins during the offseason.

Anderson, who signed with the Colts as an undrafted free agent out of Holy Cross in 2023, has appeared in four games in two seasons with Indianapolis (2023-24) and spent time on the practice squad with Cincinnati in 2025. He has played 48 NFL snaps on special teams but none on defense.

The Dolphins did not elevate long snapper Cal Adomitis, meaning that Tucker Addington — who was listed as questionable with a shoulder injury — should be able to play Sunday.

Robinson is the only Dolphins player on the 53-man roster who’s out for Sunday’s game.

In Week 1 of the season, only Washington’s Jayden Daniels needed and used more time before throwing than Malik Willis did against the Raiders. The Dolphins say that’s not an issue.

“I think through Malik’s career, he typically has had one of the higher time to throws, but it’s also like his superpower,” offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik said.

“Like he’s good with his legs, he’s mobile, he makes good off schedule throws, he scrambles. So me and him working together in that regard on making sure that he still has the freedom and the ability to go use that strength while balancing that out with when the play presents itself and we can get the ball out fast and let’s take advantage of that.

“Let’s get the ball in our guys’ hands and let them go do stuff. That’s something we’re working through and we’re going to continue to work through early in the year as a whole offense.”

“Had him in Green Bay. We really liked him in the draft. I remember watching him coming out of Auburn, played safety, played nickel, played corner, very physical. He actually started for us against Minnesota late in the season last year, so I got a chance to see him. I know what he’s all about. I know his makeup. He’s a tough player. He loves football. He’s gotten stronger since the last time I’ve seen him, and I’m excited that he’ll have an opportunity.”

Simpson was drafted by the Colts in the fifth round out of Auburn in 2024 but did not make the team. He has spent time on the practice squad of the Colts, Jets and Packers and has appeared in one NFL game, for Green Bay last December.

▪ Fox is sending Dolphins-49ers (Kevin Kugler, Daryl Johnston) to Miami-Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Naples/Ft. Myers, all of California except San Diego and the El Centro/Yuma, Ari. market; Reno, Nevada; Utah; southern Oregon and a slice of Wyoming.

Fox’s Las Vegas affiliate was assigned the Dolphins game but persuaded Fox to allow it to carry Washington-Dallas instead.
