This week, we continue the 2026-27 school year feature where we ask you to vote for a top high school varsity performer of the week (in Broward and Miami-Dade counties).

Nominees this week are from high school bowling, football, golf, swimming and volleyball.

Here are the nominees.

Analucia Alvarez, Palmetto volleyball: the sophomore had 14 kills and 3 blocks in a 3-set win over visiting Lourdes (9-6) as Palmetto improved to 11-3.

Jake Benigno, Columbus bowling: the senior bowled a match best 278 game against Coral Gables.

Tatiana Chin, TERRA bowling: the junior captain led the unbeaten TERRA girls’ bowling team over Ferguson 5-2 at Bird Bowl in Miami. She totaled 479 pins in three games to help the Wolves (4-0) amass 1,823 pins.

Nina Fischer, Ransom Everglades golf: the sophomore won the girls’ title at the Palm League Championship at Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables. She shot 4-under par 67 and then won the championship on the first playoff hole as she helped the Raiders finish second.

Daniel Gutierrez, St. Brendan swimming: the senior was first in the 100 free and first in the 100 breast as the Sabres boys’ team defeated Downtown Doral and LaSalle.

Abdul Hopkins, American football: the senior totaled 9 solo tackless and 10 assists with a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and an interception as the Patriots improved to 4-1 with a 41-9 win over visiting Hialeah.

Oscar Kramer, Coral Gables swimming: the junior was 1st in the 50 free and 1st in the 100 free as the Cavaliers boys’ swim team defeated Reagan.

Justin Matias, Archbishop Carroll football: the junior running back scored from 3 yards with 42 seconds remaining to tie the game and set-up the winning PAT as the host Bulldogs (3-1) came from behind to hand American (3-1) its first loss, 28-27. Matias finished with 138 yards and 2 touchdowns on 23 carries.

Marek Majercak, Miami Country Day golf: the junior won the Wolverine Golf Classic at Deering Bay Yacht & Country Club in Coral Gables. He bested a field of 49 golfers with even par 71. He also led the Spartans to the team title.

Tyler Salinetro, Coral Park bowling: the senior had a 629 high series with a 246 high game to lead the undefeated Rams (5-0) over Braddock 7-0.
