Dallas Cowboys Urged to Trade for Disgruntled Cornerback to Strengthen Secondary

It’s only been one week, but concern regarding the Dallas Cowboys’ defense following their 28-20 Week 1 loss to the New York Giants is legitimate.

The Cowboys overhauled the defense over the offense, but the changes didn’t produce the desired results in the first week of the season. As a result, the ‘Boys are being urged to make yet another addition on that side of the ball.

Cowboys Urged to Trade for Joey Porter Jr. From Pittsburgh Steelers

Stud cornerback Joey Porter Jr. is frustrated with his contract situation with the Pittsburgh Steelers, which has led to rumors and speculation regarding his future with the franchise. As a result, Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report recently urged the Cowboys to call up the Steelers to try to get a deal done for the former second-round pick.

“The Cowboys could certainly use the help—the team’s current starters (DaRon Bland and Cobie Durant) didn’t fare well in Week 1. But there’s an issue here—compensation. Dallas owes the higher of their two first-rounders next year to the New York Jets after the Quinnen Williams deal, and Pittsburgh already has Dallas’ third-rounder next year,” Davenport wrote.

“Still, Jones has never let details get in the way of making a splash, and the Cowboys have the wiggle room under the cap to make a trade financially feasible.”

The Steelers value Porter, and it seems unlikely that they’d be willing to give him up via trade, but hey, crazier things have happened. For Dallas, kicking the tires on a potential deal certainly couldn’t hurt.

Jerry Jones Expecting Better Defensive Effort From Cowboys in Week 2

After an underwhelming defensive performance in Week 1 against the Giants, Cowboys owner and GM Jerry Jones is expecting a better showing in Week 2 against the Washington Commanders.

“The improvement from where we played on Sunday [on defense] will be there,” Jones said. “I’ll go on record saying that.”

Dallas allowed 394 total yards against New York, including 229 passing yards and 165 rushing yards. They’ll look to improve upon all of those numbers against Washington.
