3 Burning Questions Ahead of Seahawks’ Week 2 Matchup vs. Cardinals

The Seattle Seahawks are preparing for a Week 2 matchup with the divisional rival Arizona Cardinals.

This game is actually pretty important for the Seahawks. The NFC West is a brutal division, and it seems like the Cardinals are going to be tougher than anyone expected. Plus, the Seahawks are going to be without star quarterback Sam Darnold for the next few weeks.

The Seahawks were able to beat a contender with their backup quarterback in Week 1, so there’s plenty of reasons to be optimistic heading into Week 2. There are definitely some questions we have, though, so let’s dive into those.

Are the Cardinals Actually Good?

Before Week 1, you would have been hard pressed to find one person who expected the Cardinals to even be mediocre in 2026. It seemed like a foregone conclusion that the Cardinals would be one of, if not THE worst team in the league in 2026.

Technically, that could still be the case, but it didn’t look like it in Week 1. The Cardinals pulled off the biggest upset of the week over the Chargers, and it wasn’t even that close of a game. Jacoby Brissett was awesome, the run game did enough, and the defense was punishing.

Was this simply a Week 1 mirage, or are the Cardinals actually decent? One week is a fluke, two weeks is a trend.

Can Drew Lock Repeat Week 1 Performance?

Drew Lock didn’t put up eye-popping numbers in Week 1, but he did enough to win the game. The quarterback didn’t turn the ball over, and he led the team on a couple of long scoring drives.

The Cardinals made Justin Herbert’s life miserable in Week 1, though, and they could definitely do that to a backup quarterback too, you’d think. If the Cardinals are able to get pressure on Lock, it could be a long day for the Seahawks offense.

Lock doesn’t have to be great, though. If he just manages the game and avoids mistakes, the Seahawks should have no problems.

Will Jadarian Price Be More Involved?

Jadarian Price is the Seahawks RB1 already. Zach Charbonnet is on the PUP list, so Price is the primary back as a rookie. However, Price didn’t get all of the carries in Week 1, and actually split touches with George Holani.

That was surprising, especially considering the fact that Price actually looked good. The rookie took 10 carries for 52 yards and looked explosive against a tough defense. Will the Seahawks really make Price split carries with Holani again in Week 2?

The Cardinals’ run defense did a fine job in Week 1, so this will be a tough test. The Seahawks would be better off rolling with Price and letting him get into a rhythm.
