A Florida attorney stalked his wife. That’s not what could send him to prison

A Florida attorney admitted to using tracking devices in stalking his estranged wife. For that, Steven Teuber has been put on probation by a Pinellas County court and suspended as an attorney by the state Supreme Court.

And, now the Sarasota lawyer might face other trouble.

Teuber, 63, returned to Pinellas County jail after police say a probation compliance search of his home turned up 61 gummies and other edibles as well as 13 rounds of ammunition. That could turn Teuber’s five-year probation for installation of a tracking device and aggravated stalking-violation of a court order into a five-year prison sentence.

Among issues to be addressed at Friday’s pretrial hearing is Teuber’s motion requesting the court set bond or release him on his own recognizance. But court dockets say there’s still an open domestic violence restraining order against him, first taken out by his wife on June 12, 2025.

That’s the court order Teuber violated just 16 days later.

Teeth and tracking

An arrest report says on June 28, 2025, Treasure Island police arrived at the Teuber residence and, after following yells for “Help!” into the bedroom, saw the six-foot-five, 285-pound Teuber on his wife “entangled in her grasp.” Teuber’s wife “had a bite mark on her hands that was actively bleeding with bruising around the bite mark.”

Eight months after Teuber’s arrest on misdemeanor battery, Feb. 25, 2026, he was living in Sarasota, an hour’s drive from his former Treasure Island home and his estranged wife. Still, an arrest report said she was “in distress and fear” after finding two GPS tracking devices on her car.

Police subpoenaed the registration on the tracking devices. They found the devices, active since May 17, 2025, were connected to Teuber’s law firm address.

The length of Teuber’s suspension from the Florida Bar, which he joined in 2005, has yet to be determined.
