How did I not know about this tool to help me find something at Walmart?

Have you ever found yourself wandering the aisles at Walmart looking for something you just can’t seem to find?

Maybe it’s a new ingredient for a recipe you wanted to try, or maybe just something outside the “norm” of your typical shopping list.

If I’m the only one that’s happened to, read no further!

But if it’s happened to you, let me tell you about a tool available on Walmart’s app I just discovered.

Shop Walmart online for whatever you need

It’s called “Flash Price Tag” or sometimes “Flash Tag” and it uses those shelf labels on store shelves to help you find what you’re looking for.

Here’s how it works.

What is Walmart’s Flash Price Tag?

Walmart’s Flash Price Tag is in the Walmart app, which is available both in Apple App and Google Play.

The feature helps you find an item on a shelf by flashing a light on the tag under the item.

How does Walmart’s Flash Price Tag work?

Here’s how to use it:

Open the Walmart app inside the store
Search for the item you’re looking for
Tap on the item to see the store map that shows which aisle the item is located
At the bottom of the page, tap on “Flash Price Tag”
- The app will ask you if you’re in the aisle.
Look for the flashing light on the shelf where your elusive item is located

Not fast enough to spot the light before it stops flashing? The app has you covered and you can ask it to flash the light again.

Step 1: Search for the item you want. Once it’s on the screen, tap on the image.

Step 2: Now you’ll see where the item you’re searching for is hiding, um, located. The app will show you not only the aisle but also the location in the aisle. Still can’t find it? Tap that “Flash Price Tag” and then confirm you are in the aisle indicated.

Step 3: In the upper left corner of those shelf labels is a little blue indicator light. After you hit “Flash Price Tag,” it will start flashing to help you find your item.

Step 4: Spot the blue light and ta-dah, into the shopping cart it goes!

Step 5: Didn’t spot the light? You can ask the app to flash it again.

Does Walmart Flash Price Tag really work?

I hear you and was wondering the same thing, especially since I already knew where the oatmeal was in my local store.

Then I was asked by a family member to pick up a couple of magnetic hangars. Now let me be clear: When the holiday items are on the shelves, I know where to look since many people hang wreaths and other decorative items with magnetic hangars. But in September? I had no idea.

So I pulled out my phone and searched for magnetic hangars. Sure enough, there they were. Near automotive. So I headed to the other side of the store. I knew the aisle and the approximate location in the aisle but still couldn’t find the hangars.

So I tapped that Flash Price Tag.

I confess I didn’t spot it the first time, but the second time, sure enough. There it was. On the bottom shelf. In a box.

So I call that a success and a handy function!
