And, according to online records, Q’Onda Taqueria remained closed as of Tuesday.

There’s no online record that Q’Onda passed re-inspection to reopen after failing Friday’s re-inspection. No one answered the restaurant’s phone Tuesday afternoon.

Here’s some of the 39 total violations, including 13 high priority violations, found when the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation inspector stopped by 10575 SW 109th Ct. on Thursday:

At the bar, an “accumulation of black/green mold-like substance in the interior of the ice machine/bin.” Also, the ice scoop handle touched the ice.

The inspector pulled out Stop Sale orders upon spotting “15-plus live flies landing inside a container of tomatillo salsa;” “20-plus flies landing inside a crate and on top of yellow onions;” and “20-plus flies landing inside a crate and on top of red onions.”

Another two flies kept landing on “clean knives on top of a prep table.”

Of the 72 or so live roaches seen, a party of 30 was spotted “crawling inside the reach-in cooler where raw meats are stored, and inside reach-in cooler gaskets next to the dishwashing area.” About 15 roaches were “crawling inside the reach-in cooler … where various sauces and shredded cheese are stored,” as well as the cooler gaskets. The reach-in cooler drawers under a flat top grill contained 23 live roaches.

One live roach was inside a cookline oven.

Among the expired roaches, one roach died on a cookline table “where the grill is stored.” Four roach corpses sat in a reach-in cooler. Other reach-in cooler drawers contained three dead roaches.

Someone shut off the hot water at a kitchen handwash sink. Another handwash sink lacked “paper towels or a mechanical hand drying device.”

The inspector saw an “employee grab a spice bottle off the floor and continue to prepare customer order without changing gloves and washing hands.”

An “employee scooped ice and made drink for a customer without first washing hands.” The possibility of this is why the ice scoop handle touching the ice in the bar area is a violation.

Another employee put on gloves, but did so without washing hands first.

There was “standing water on the floor underneath the table at the kitchen entrance.”

“Food stored on floor” as in a case of avocados directly on the kitchen floor.

“Throughout the kitchen” the “ceiling tiles were dusty.”

Friday’s callback inspection cut the violations, but only from 39 to 33. Yellow onions and red onions each had a swarm of “20-plus flies.”
