Ivanka and Jared are house hunting in Malibu. Are they leaving Miami?

Indian Creek billionaires Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump have been house hunting in Malibu, touring several luxury properties in the celebrity enclave, according to Page Six.

The couple was also spotted dining at Nobu Malibu with Secret Service agents, where paparazzi took their picture.

The timing of the Malibu sightings are notable. Last week, Kushner’s younger brother, Joshua Kushner, agreed to buy the Los Angeles Lakers with former Disney CEO Bob Iger for a reported $12.5 billion, a record price for a sports franchise. Joshua Kushner lives on Miami Beach’s North Bay Road with his model wife, Karlie Kloss.

The Malibu house hunt raises an obvious question for Miami’s billionaire class: Are the Kushners preparing to leave the “Billionaire Bunker” of Indian Creek Village?

There’s no evidence of that — at least not yet.

Instead, the reported search may be another example of how the wealthiest Americans increasingly maintain homes and business interests in multiple elite enclaves rather than choosing one place over another.

For the Kushners, Malibu now has a particularly strong family connection. Joshua and his wife already own a $29.5 million Malibu estate known as the Wave House. Their new ownership stake in the Lakers could give the family an even larger reason to spend time in Los Angeles.

Jared and Ivanka, meanwhile, have their main roots in South Florida. The couple paid roughly $24 million in 2021 for their waterfront estate on Indian Creek Island as the tiny village has become truly synonymous with extreme wealth and privacy.

The couple also have three children who have grown up in Miami and attend private schools. That makes a permanent move to California a more complicated proposition, particularly during the school year.

Malibu has always been a magnet for celebrities, but lately billionaires and technology executives and members of the ultrawealthy have settled there.

The difference is that Malibu is now also becoming part of the Kushner family business map.

For Jared and Ivanka, a Malibu residence could be a base when visiting Joshua and Kloss, and a foothold in a city that has suddenly become much more important to the Kushner family.

The couple moved to Florida after leaving Washington following Donald Trump’s first presidency and invested heavily in their waterfront compound.

And their Indian Creek presence also gives them something Malibu cannot easily replicate: a highly secure, tiny residential community populated by some of the world’s wealthiest people with a security gate at the entrance.
