Look as cargo airline and Miami nonprofit send aid flight to quake-hit Colombia

Global Empowerment Mission (GEM), the Doral-based nonprofit handling disaster relief missions for both Venezuelans impacted by June’s historic twin earthquakes and Colombians impacted by Monday’s 7.4-magnitude earthquake, partnered with Avianca Cargo and local groups on Friday to offer a behind-the-scenes look at preparations for a relief flight.

Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Doral Mayor Christi Fraga were among the officials at Miami International Airport as a cargo aircraft with almost 60 tons of humanitarian aid was prepped for it’s trip from Miami to Cali, Colombia, to deliver essential supplies.
