Broward Sheriff’s Office says it nabbed booze thief after summer spree

Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested a man they say repeatedly stole from several liquor stores in the Oakland Park area over the summer.

Kendrick Wallace, 33, was arrested July 30, but the sheriff’s office said Tuesday that detectives are looking for two other men suspected of helping him with the thefts.

Detectives say the heists weren’t complex. Wallace and his partners would simply walk in the stores, grab bottles of booze and walk out without paying, BSO spokeswoman Claudinne Caro said.

The men targeted several ABC Fine Wines and Liquor stores between June and July, Caro said, adding that detectives believe they also hit other liquor stores throughout Broward County.

The sheriff’s office released store security camera footage showing the men stealing the alcohol.

Wallace, who has a history of felony convictions in Broward County on charges ranging from grand theft to burglary going back to 2011, remains in BSO’s main jail in Fort Laurderdale on multiple retail and petit theft counts. A judge set his bond at $10,000. Information on his legal counsel was not immediately available.
