Boater who went missing in the Florida Keys located, U.S. Coast Guard says

A boater who had been missing since Saturday afternoon in the Florida Keys was located, the United States Coast Guard said in a Tuesday statement.

Crews were still searching for Dustin Southwick on Monday, and Southwick had been found as of Tuesday afternoon, the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Key West said in a statement on Facebook. It’s unclear where Southwick was over the past days, or how he was located.

Southwick was onboard a vessel, the Mauney Marine, the U.S. Coast Guard said. He was seen around noon Saturday off the Marathon 33rd Street Boat Ramp, located off U.S. 1 near Mile Marker 49, before he went missing.

A spokesperson for the Coast Guard Southeast District didn’t respond to a series of questions including where Southwick is from, or whether the Mauney Marine was a rental.

“We want to thank all of our partners at MCSO, FWC, Local Police, Air Station Miami, Station Marathon and National Park Service for their excellent coordination and bias for action,” the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Key West said in the statement.
