Gas prices are up in South Florida. See the increases and check your area

As we get back to work or hit the road for a late summer vacation, take note: Gas prices are up in South Florida this week.

Gas prices edged over $4 a gallon in Broward County and increased by 11 cents across the country compared to the same time last week.

“For now, motorists should expect prices to remain elevated, but the intensity of further gains will depend heavily on how the geopolitical situation develops in the coming week,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.

The average Miami-area price is 15 cents a gallon higher per gallon than a month ago and 91 cents higher than a year ago, according to GasBuddy, a national fuel monitoring service that surveys nearly 1,700 stations in South Florida

North Florida is the cheapest to pump in Florida while the Keys, Naples and Palm Beach County are the most expensive areas to buy gas, according to AAA.

Miami-Dade: The average price: $3.96 on Monday, July 27, a 3-cent increase from a week ago, according to AAA.

Fort Lauderdale: $4.01, a 2-cent increase from a week ago.

West Palm Beach/Boca Raton: $4.12, a 2-cent increase from a week ago.

Monroe County: $4.19, a 1-cent decrease from a week ago.

“Average gasoline and diesel prices rose in nearly every state over the last week, as continued escalations between the U.S. and Iran, renewed Houthi attacks in the Red Sea, and fresh Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries combined to keep upward pressure on both crude and refined product markets. However, a weekend pullback in hostilities offered some relief, with oil prices opening sharply lower Sunday, suggesting the pace of increases at the pump may moderate in the days ahead.”
