Helicopter crash at North Perry Airport hospitalizes four people, police say

A helicopter crashed Saturday morning at North Perry Airport, Pembroke Pines police said, the second crash in 15 days at or near the airport.

A Robinson R44 helicopter crashed while departing from North Perry around 11:20 a.m., said the Federal Aviation Administration, which will be investigating the crash along with the National Transportation Safety Board. Pines police said the four people on board were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

“Preliminary information indicates the helicopter was getting ready to lift off when it rolled over,” an NTSB email said. “As it rolled over, the helicopter hit a parked airplane. The helicopter will be recovered to a secure facility for further examination.”

According to audio posted to Instagram on theaviationcircle account, the helicopter carried FAA No. 336SG. That shows up in the FAA online registry as a Robinson Helicopter model R44 owned by Andrade South Florida Services, a business that state records say is run out of a Dania Beach apartment.

On May 29, in a separate incident, a small plane crashed into the lawn of South Florida State Hospital, west of the airport and across University Drive. The two people aboard were treated for their injuries.
