Arrest made in hit-and-run crash that killed bicyclist in Hialeah, police say
An arrest has been made in connection to a deadly hit-and-run crash involving a bicyclist in Hialeah, police say.

Leonel Alejandro Laferte, 21, was arrested Thursday after turning himself in to traffic homicide detectives, according to Hialeah police. The crash happened early Thursday near the intersection of Southeast Fourth Avenue and East Okeechobee Road.
Police say a driver in a dark-colored vehicle struck a man on a bicycle around 4 a.m. and kept going southeast on Okeechobee Road. The bicyclist died from his injuries. Hours later, Laferte showed up to the Hialeah Police Department to turn himself in, police say.

The name of the bicyclist who died was not immediately available from police Friday.
Police charged Laferte with leaving the scene of an accident involving death and driving with a suspended license. On Friday, a judge told Laferte he could remain under house arrest if he posts a $50,000 bond, according to WSVN.
