Texans Announce RB Move After David Montgomery News
The Houston Texans offense has been excellent all season long. Despite their 2-4 record, there is hope that Houston will turn it around and go for it this year given how well C.J. Stroud has been playing.

The Texans will take on the New York Giants this week at home looking to win a third consecutive game. While Stroud has been dominant through the air, the Houston running back room has been banged up. The Texans acquired David Montgomery this past offseason in a trade with the Detroit Lions.
Through his first five games, the 29-year-old veteran has been underwhelming, rushing for just 2.7 yards per carry on 52 touches, by far the worst mark of his career.
To make matters worse, Montgomery is currently injured. He missed Houston’s last game against the Jacksonville Jaguars due to a groin injury.
The Texans returned to practice on Wednesday and unfortunately Montgomery was unable to practice again, which now makes it four straight missed practices. That certainly puts his availability for Sunday’s game in doubt.

With Montgomery down, the Texans leaned on Woody Marks last week. However, behind him they also elevated Jawhar Jackson from the practice squad, who had quite an efficient game rushing for 43 yards on six carries and scored his first NFL touchdown.
Unfortunately, he is not going to be available this week behind Marks. The Texans announced they have moved Jackson to the practice squad injured list.

It is unclear exactly what he injured, but the reality is he is going to be unavailable. The Texans will likely have to use a heavy dose of Marks again, now in his second NFL season since Houston selected him in the 2025 NFL Draft.
