Sean McVay Looked Angrier Than He’s Ever Been After Monday Night’s Loss
Sean McVay wasn’t happy after the Los Angeles Rams dropped a 37-34 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football.

The Rams fell on the wrong side of a heart-pounding overtime thriller to conclude Week 5. The two Super Bowl contenders combined for 890 yards behind MVP quarterbacks Matthew Stafford and Josh Allen, but special teams held McVay’s squad back. Harrison Mevis missed a 50-yard field goal in the first quarter, and the Bills blocked his game-winning 48-yard attempt in overtime.
A visibly frustrated McVay told reporters after the loss that he’s “gonna evaluate everything.”
“In the kicking game, especially with our PAT, field goal, not even close to good enough,” McVay said in his post-game press conference, per The Sporting Tribune’s Arash Markazi. “It cost us the game tonight.”
However, McVay also blamed himself for the letdown. The head coach second-guessed his decision to run the ball on third-and-5 and set up a long field-goal attempt for Mevis, who has missed four of his seven kicks from 40 yards or more this season.
“I wish I would have had a better play call and gone for it, gotten a lot tighter,” McVay said. “I’m sick right now with myself, and I’m so proud of that group. This is the tough part of sports, but I’m proud of that team. I’m proud of the way that they battled, and I’m sick that we came up short. I’ll be regretting kicking that and not having a better call to be able to go for it on third down and go to fourth or whatever it was. That’s on me.”

“This stinks”
McVay acknowledged how angry he was that the Rams left SoFi Stadium without a win. The preseason Super Bowl favorites fell to 2-3, but the 40-year-old knows they can’t ruminate on the loss much longer.
“This stinks,” McVay said. “It’s gonna hurt, but we can’t afford to let it — we can’t let this team beat us twice. We have to regroup and reset ourselves. It’s been a while since I’ve been this pissed after a game.”
McVay took no consolation or moral victories in taking a tough Bills team to the wire. He cut off a reporter asking whether he’d consider the circumstances behind the loss and walked off hastily after his response.
“No, none of this makes me feel good right now,” McVay said. “I’m proud of the effort, but none of how I feel is positive. Other than I’m proud of the resilience, the guts our team displayed. But there’s no, I don’t even know what you want to call it, but congrats to the Bills, and I’m excited about how we freaking move forward.”
