The 40-foot Carver boat was fully engulfed by flames when firefighters arrived where it was docked behind a home on the 200 block of South Tradewinds Avenue around 6 a.m., the fire department said.

The firefighters immediately began spraying the vessel and brought the fire under control before the flames could spread to boats docked nearby and the surrounding properties, department spokeswoman Sandra King said in a statement.

When the flames were knocked down, firefighters determined no one was injured, King said.

The fire is under investigation by the Pompano Beach fire marshal.

“Given the circumstances of the incident, the fire is currently considered suspicious. The investigation remains ongoing,” King said.
