Red Bull Troy Lee Designs Ducati Corse’s Dylan Ferrandis took to social media on Tuesday morning to announce that he will be retiring from professional racing after this weekend’s SuperMotocross Playoff finale. The 32-year-old moved to America in 2017 and has enjoyed a successful career stateside.

Ferrandis first made a cameo appearance in America during the 2014 Monster Energy Cup while competing full-time in the MX2 World Championship. He stayed in Europe for two more seasons and won two overalls during his MX2 career, including a 1-1 day at Loket in 2016. He made the trip overseas for 2017 and beyond, signing with Star Racing Yamaha. Ferrandis scored his first podium in America in his fourth start, finishing third at the Daytona Supercross. After solid runs during his first two season, Ferrandis scored his first Pro Motocross win at Southwick in 2018 and backed it up with another overall victory at Unadilla. 2019 marked a shift from podium contender to championship threat. Ferrandis battled Adam Cianciarulo for the 250SX West title and stole the points lead late in the season thanks to three wins at the final four rounds. Ferrandis claimed Star Racing’s fourth 250SX West championship in the span of five years and battled Cianciarulo once more during Pro Motocross, where he scored four victories but fell short of the championship. He backed up his 250SX West title win with another in 2020 and battled Jeremy Martin for the Pro Motocross title, winning the 250MX championship after scoring eight podiums in nine rounds.
In 2021, Ferrandis moved to the premier class. He made an immediate impression, scoring his first 450 podium in his second start, a runner-up finish at Houston. Ferrandis was a bit quieter through the rest of Supercross but during Pro Motocross, the French star put together one of the most underrated seasons in recent memory. Ferrandis won 6/12 overalls and finished on the podium at all 12 nationals, completing a dominant 450MX title win. The championship was also Star Racing’s first premier class title, marking a monumental accomplishment for the team. Ferrandis logged a couple of podiums and pole positions early in the 2022 Supercross season, but a wrist and thumb injury took him out of his 450MX title defense before it began. He raced just two nationals that summer and injuries would strike again during Supercross, with a concussion taking him out of action. Ferrandis returned to score six podiums during the summer and was one of the inaugural SMX Playoff podium finishers thanks to a third place effort at Charlotte. Over the last three years, Ferrandis has spent time with Phoenix Racing Honda and moved over to Ducati’s new factory program in 2026. Ferrandis has led the way for Ducati in their first year of SuperMotocross competition and ended Pro Motocross seventh in the standings.
